Approach Angling Co.

Terms & Conditions

Effective September 2, 2026

These terms apply to trips booked or requested through this website. They do not replace the liability waiver, which is a separate agreement required from every participant.

Booking and Payment

A deposit is required to reserve a trip date. The remaining balance is due prior to the start of the trip. Your date is not reserved until the deposit is received and you have received a confirmation.

Cancellation

A minimum of 30 days' notice is required for a full refund. Cancellations made within 30 days of the trip are responsible for 100% of the trip cost. A processing fee may be retained regardless of cancellation timing.

Rescheduling

Requests to reschedule are accommodated when the calendar allows. Reschedule requests made within 30 days of the trip are subject to availability and may be treated as a cancellation if no alternate date is available.

Weather and River Conditions

Trips run in most weather. If conditions are unsafe, or if river conditions make a trip unworkable, we will reschedule at no charge or issue a full refund. That decision rests with the guide or the operating outfitter.

Permitted Outfitter Operations

Guided trips offered or arranged through Approach Angling Company may, depending on the fishery and location, be operated by an independent permitted outfitter. Where required by applicable land-management or river-use regulations, the permitted outfitter is the operator of record and is responsible for the applicable commercial-use authorization and on-water operation. John MacMurray guides those trips as an authorized guide under that outfitter's permit. The operating outfitter will be identified in connection with the applicable reservation.

For trips operated by a permitted outfitter, deposit, cancellation, and rescheduling terms are governed by that outfitter. Availability requests submitted through this website for those waters are inquiries only and do not create a reservation, and no payment is collected at the time of request.

Licenses and Waivers

Anglers are responsible for holding a valid state fishing license. A signed liability waiver is required from every participant before the trip begins. For participants under 18, a parent or guardian must sign. Where a trip is operated by a permitted outfitter, that outfitter's waiver may also be required.

Assumption of Risk

Fly fishing involves inherent risks, including moving water, weather, wading, boat travel, and remote terrain. Participants accept those risks. The liability waiver signed before each trip governs the allocation of risk and liability.

Guide Discretion

Trip location, river section, and fishing method are selected based on conditions, water levels, and what is fishing best on the day. Specific water is not guaranteed.

Photography

Photographs and video taken during trips may be used for marketing purposes. If you prefer not to appear in marketing materials, tell us before your trip and we will honor that request. Consent for participants under 18 is addressed in the waiver.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date above reflects the most recent version.
